# SMART Preorder vs Timesact

SMART Preorder is free and includes deposits, Shopify Markets targeting and charging the balance on fulfillment. Timesact, listed as Preorder Now Presale Timesact by Kairock Partners SRL, is free for 20 orders a month; deposits start on its CORE plans (Flexible from $5/mo, Fixed from $23/mo) and markets and charge on fulfillment on PRO (Flexible from $7/mo, Fixed from $27/mo). Timesact adds wishlists, low stock and price drop emails, SMS, and unlimited email sending on its Free plan.

Timesact splits its features into CORE and PRO, and sells each two ways: Flexible, where you pick a monthly order volume and pay per order past it, or Fixed, an unlimited plan whose price follows your Shopify plan. SMART has one free version with every pre-order and back in stock setting in it.

## When SMART Preorder fits better

- You want deposits, Shopify Markets targeting and charge on fulfillment without choosing a tier. Timesact puts deposits on CORE and the other two on PRO. In SMART they are settings on every campaign ([deposits](https://smart-preorder.com/features/deposits), [markets and locations](https://smart-preorder.com/help/preorders/markets-and-locations)).
- A declined card should get another try. Timesact's [billing and split payments article](https://help.timesact.com/en-us/article/billing-and-split-payments-1puxraa/) says a declined balance charge isn't retried and the customer isn't told automatically. SMART retries on the schedule you set, then follows your **When all attempts fail** choice ([how balance charges work](https://smart-preorder.com/help/preorders/how-balance-charges-work)).
- You don't want a per-order price. Timesact's Free plan covers 20 orders a month and Flexible plans add $0.20 or $0.30 for each order past your volume. SMART doesn't count orders.
- You also run payment rules, such as hiding a payment method by country or cart total, and want them in the same app ([payment rules](https://smart-preorder.com/features/payment-rules)).

## When Timesact fits better

- You want wishlists and more alert types. Timesact's listing covers emails on restock, low stock and price drop, and its pricing page adds a Wishlist on PRO. SMART has no wishlist and no low stock or price drop alerts.
- Your store is new and its waitlists are already large. Timesact's Free plan lists unlimited email sending. SMART's daily back in stock limit starts at 25 emails for stores under 14 days old and 100 for most stores with fewer than 10 paid orders in 90 days ([plans and limits](https://smart-preorder.com/help/general/plans-and-limits)).
- You'd like a person to walk you through setup. Timesact's pricing page includes a guided setup call and video support on every plan, Free included.
- You tag products for pre-order or upload them by CSV. Timesact's CORE plans offer pre-order by product tag and CSV upload. A SMART campaign targets **Specific products**, **Collections** or **All products**.
